Our Comparison Methodology

Check the Assumptions Behind the Numbers

Speech is Cheap publishes these comparisons. We sell one of the products being compared. Each alternative page gives at least two supported situations where each provider is a better fit, with no overall score.

We use each provider's pricing, documentation and published policies. Source links and check dates appear with the comparison. Prices need a monthly review and another check before publication or a material update. A check date records when we verified a claim, not a guarantee that a vendor's offer will stay the same.

Cost examples state the audio duration, file count, plan and enabled features. They include subscription fees, overage and selected add-ons. We keep trial credits, taxes and negotiated discounts separate from standard rates. Providers may bill different units or round each file differently.

A cost comparison does not prove equal accuracy. Published specifications, our own completed-job timings, customer-reported results and controlled tests answer different questions. We label the evidence used and do not turn one into another. Language counts do not establish quality for a particular language.

Before migrating, compare identical recordings and the fields your application uses. Keep failed jobs in the results. Evaluate word accuracy, speaker separation, timing and cost separately, then choose against your requirements.
